| 1/12/2005 | Estate of Eloise Bonicelli, Mike Bonicelli, age 55, Donna Fuller, age 63, and Gwendolyn Garris, age 54 sued the Estate of Joseph Bonicelli, Tom Phillips, and Delfino Ortega for the wrongful death of Eloise Bonicelli claiming that Joseph Bonicelli hired Phillips and Ortega to kill Eloise. Joseph Bonicelli conveyed his entire estate including his interest in the "Pearl of Allah", the largest pearl in the world to the child that he had with his second wife, Dee Phillips. | Plaintiffs' verdict for $32.4 million. |
| 11/2/2002 | This was a medical malpractice case. The plaintiff claimed that Dr. Karl Stecher cut the carotid artery of Be Luong during surgery resulting in blood loss then clotting which caused a stroke. Plaintiff further claimed that Dr. Stecher attempt to hide his error in the operative records of the surgery. The patient died two days later. | Jury verdict in favor of the plaintiff in the amount of $1.3 million. |
| 9/30/1999 | This case involved an automobile accident. The defendant negligently caused an automobile accident resulting in the decedent's death. Defendant was intoxicated at the time of the accident. Plaintiffs sued defendant for economic and noneconomic damages resulting from the wrongful death. Before trial, defendant admitted that his "negligence and negligence per se was the sole and proximate cause of the automobile accident." The case therefore proceeded to a jury trial to determine the amount of damages owed to plaintiffs. | The jury awarded the son $24,581 in economic damages and $11,166 for noneconomic damages |
