4/16/2005 Judith Anderson's husband was killed in 2003 when his car was hit by a Schneider National semi-tractor trailer rig when Bradley fainted. Judith Anderson, individually, and as representative of the Estate of William Anderson, sued Thomas Bradley, Schneider National Inc. and Schneider National Bulk Carriers Inc. claiming that the defendants' negligence caused the wrongful death of Mr. Anderson (51 years old). Mrs. Anderson claimed that Schneider knew that Bradley had health problems that made it unsafe for him to drive a vehicle. Plaintiff's verdict for $12.5 million.

Mr. Clinton was 16 years old at the time of his death, which occurred during an altercation with his father over Clinton's failure to perform household chores.  Anna Belle Newman, the personal representative of the estate of the decedent, Clinton Patterson Cole, sued Clinton's father, John Cole, and his stepmother, Tara Cole, for allegedly causing Clinton's death. Newman's complaint asserted claims of negligence, wantonness, and willful and intentional conduct. Newman asserts that the altercation ended with the father's striking Clinton repeatedly in the chest and then holding him on the ground in a "choke hold" while Tara Cole sprayed him in the face with water from a garden hose. The father held Clinton on the ground for approximately 20 minutes; he let go of Clinton when a police officer arrived. Clinton was unconscious, and he was taken to a local hospital; he died the next day.

This wrongful death case took place in Mobile County, Alabama. The family of Melissa Allison Sproles sued Bradford Health Services, et al. for her wrongful death in an accident on February 7, 2002 when a van driven by Rudolph Rolison allegedly crossed the centerline. She tried to avoid a collision with Rolison's vehicle, lost control of her vehicle and hit an 18-wheeler. The plaintiffs claimed that Rolison went to sleep at the wheel because he had been driving his vehicle for 30 of the 39 hours preceding the accident. Rolsion admitted that he was at the scene of the accident but denied that he was the cause of the accident and testified that someone else caused the accident.

Plaintiffs' verdict for $3 million.
11/19/2004

This case took place in Marion County, Alabama. The family and estate of Jonathan Shaffer (19 y/o) sued American Lifts on a products liability theory for his wrongful death. Mr. Shaffer had been working at Premodor, Inc. for just three weeks. Debris from Premodor's door manufacturing process had accumulated in a five-foot-deep pit. Mr. Shaffer shut down a hydraulic scissor lift manufactured by American Lifts that was used to lower doors into the pit. He climbed into the pit to remove the debris and while he was in the pit a hydraulic line on the lift ruptured lowering the lift into the pit and crushing him to death. He was survived by his wife and a four-week old daughter.

 Plaintiffs' verdict for $2.5 million.
3/29/2004 This case took place in Madison County Alabama. The issue involved a governmental tort wrongful death claim by the estate and family of James Clayton who was killed in September 2000 when riding his motorcycle. The plaintiffs claimed that the accident occurred because the City of Huntsville did not give Clayton adequate warning that he was approaching a hidden and dangerous intersection. Plaintiffs' verdict for $500,000.00.
